Not everyone can afford a gym membership and put the gym price tag aside, some people simply like the convenience, privacy and all other advantages that come with at home workouts.
When I got serious about training in 2013, I did not join a gym. Instead, I turned to Jillian Michaels’ and Billy Blanks’ DVDs and also found a few of the best home workout programs on YouTube and eventually I lost 20+ kgs.
If you are looking into getting fit at home, you must check out these 5 best at-home workout programs on YouTube.

The greatest thing about BeFiT channel is that you are not restricted to just having one or two trainers to work with. They host an impressive collection of fitness videos from top trainers in the industry.
Featured instructors include Alicia Marie, Scott Herman, Denise Austin, the drill sergeant Jillian Michaels and many others. You might like channel segments such as “You Asked For It”- where experts answer fitness questions asked by subscribers and “BeFit GO” a total body conditioning circuit series that is optimised for mobile devices. My favourite BeFiT workouts are:
- Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred: Level 1
- Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred Workout- Level 2
- Butt Workout 1: Tone Up | 30 DAY BUTT LIFT
***Update: Jillian Michaels workouts have since been removed from BeFit due to legal issues. You can, however, buy her 30 Day Shred DVD on Amazon.
This DVD delivers amazing results and is by far her best home workout program to this day. And to prove my point, this is how much weight I lost whilst doing her 30 Day Shred.
I then worked my way up and did her Ripped in 30 and Body Revolution at home workout programs.

2 Fitness Blender
This Youtube channel is the top host for the best home workout programs. Personal trainers and couple, Kelli and Daniel offer free fitness information in addition to over 500 free workout videos.
Their home workout videos usually include warm-ups and cool-downs and require none to minimum equipment.
Kelli and Daniel always stress the importance of correct form during the workouts and will walk you through the workout as if they were actually with you in your home workout space.
Fitness Blender videos include HIIT and LISS cardio, Yoga, Pilates, resistance and strength training. If you do not own a fitness tracker, you will appreciate their calories burned estimate sidebar in almost all their videos. I implore you to check the Fitness Blender channel and website out if you haven’t yet.
Some of my favourite Fitness Blender workouts:
Brutal Butt & Thigh Workout
1000 Calorie Workout Video
3. XHIT Daily
XHIT Daily is a vibrant channel well known for the quick 5-10-minute at home workout programs. These best home workout programs from XHIT will work well for you if you are looking for supplements to a 20-30 minutes’ workout programs or if you are pressed for time and need a quickie.
Trainers Rebecca-Louise and Kelsey are the faces of the channel and are such a delight; they will motivate you to train even when you are not feeling up to it. Chatty Rebecca-Louise’s energy is quite infectious; trust me, you will want to do one more of her workouts than you initially planned.
There haven’t been recent uploads on the channel for a while now but the old videos will still get you results. My favourite XHIT Daily videos are:
10 Minute Ab Workout: How to Get a Six Pack
Thigh Exercises for Losing Fat
*** Update: Rebecca-Louise now has her own channel. The concept hasn’t changed from what she used to produce on Xhit. She still creates short and fun home workout videos and remains as talkative and bubbly as when she was on Xhit.
You can check out her channel here:
4. Zuzka Light
This girl has an amazing rock-hard body. Her workouts are centered around HIIT, Tabata, circuit and body weight training. I love her weekly ZWOW (Zuzka’s Workout of the Week) challenges where she performs 3-5 exercises in a few rounds while racing against the clock.
The intensity in all her videos will have you in a puddle of sweat within minutes. I would advise you to start with ZWOW #1 if you are keen on her challenges and work your way up from there. ZWOW # 14 is one of the best at home workout programs from Zuzka that I love.
5 Blogilates
Cassey Ho’s channel is one of the top rated Youtube channels for best home workout programs.
I don’t have much to say about her programs as I have only tried her Pilates for beginners workouts on my active rest Sundays and I would be lying if I said otherwise. As far as the rest of her workouts are concerned, you might need to explore that on your own.
These are are my picks for the best home workout programs for males and females, and from beginners to advanced. Once in a while, I check out the BodyRock channel which is where Zuzka Light started from before she went solo.

I regularly workout at home between going to the gym and sometimes follow youtube howtos. The POP pilates one, this one I will have a go at. I’ve considered pilates a few times, maybe add to the new year’s resolution list:)
Blogilates sounds rights up my alley. I love YouTube workouts for the weekends when the gym isn’t just a hop, skip and jump from the office so I’ll definitely be trying this one out.

This is a great list. I want to start being more active at home and if I could find videos to do it from the comfort of my living room that would be amazing. I’m definitely going to check out blogilates and XHIT daily.
This is the perfect time for this post! I love Zuzka and have been following her ever since she was with BodyRock. I also love Body Rock too. I will look into trying the others too. Thanks.

I discovered blogilates a while back and I just love it. Pairing it with my jogging really made a difference for me. I also worked out with fitness blender videos but I started slacking. Once again I’ve started and will definitely be checking out all other channels you mention in this post.
I needed to read this today! Been putting off a workout all week! So that’s motivated to do a blogilates video x
This is so helpful! I’ve been looking for something like this as I can’t afford to go to the gym.

Thank you! I am saving this!!!!! I love doing workouts at home and was looking for some new accounts on youtube to help me!
I was just talking to my daughter the other day about her gym membership and was staggered at how much she pays for it. Being able to do a good program at home is ideal, if it suites you; and having films on Youtube is a great way of being able to tap in to that without having to buy a DVD or book.
I love being able to exercise from home because honestly, it is less time consuming than packing up and going to the gym. These are really great programs, I am going to have to check some of them out for myself.
I am always looking for great work out at home fitness programs. These all sound so worth trying. Thank you for sharing.
Crunch gym down the street from me offer’s a Jillian Michael’s shred class. It must be the real deal because I know that gym is hardcore. I didn’t know you could do it at home! These all seem like great options!
I love learning about new work out options and had been searching for some, in fact. I will make sure to incorporate some of these into my routine.
oh man! I need to get started on this! Thanks for motivating me!
I need to start a home workout program. I can’t wait to check a couple of these out! Let’s get fit!
Thank you for this awesome list!! I workout at home and always looking for challenging workouts. I just discovered Dance Fitness with Jessica. She has live streaming classes for $20 a month that I am testing out now.
I’ve never heard of any of these, but I’ll definitely be checking them out. Especially for days like today, when it’s 40 MPH winds, overcast, and 35 degrees. NOT a good combination to go out running!
I started a bootcamp this year. I go 3x per week, But this list will help me to be more active at home on my “gym” day off. I need to lose 20lbs before May.
I never thought about using youtube for exercise videos but its a great idea, especially as you can out them on the TV these days
It’s so awesome how easy it is to find a program to work out with online! Exercise is accessible for everyone, just something we have to be committed to. I’ll definitely check these out!
