My workouts and nutrition for the month of February are being fuelled by the Exox Lean-Pro Protein and Protein Synergy Bars from Evox, a leading local and international supplements brand. Evox has been around for years and I have been one of their devoted customers ever since I discovered their ‘to die for’ flavour of their Whey Protein Advanced, the apple crumble custard flavour.
And as you may know, in the supplements world, once you find a protein powder or any supplement that tastes amazing, you stick with it because great flavours are often hard to come by. You can imagine my joy then when I received a box of supplements to try out from one of my favourite brands.
I was kind of nervous though because I didn’t want to be disappointed by a brand I love if the supplements turned out to not be what I was hoping for, in terms of flavours. Boy, I was relieved to find that the EVOX Lean-Pro Protein (chocolate cream sundae flavour) and Synergy protein bars (chocolate and cookies and cream) sang the same delicious tune as the apple crumble custard whey protein.
EVOX LEAN-PRO PROTEIN AND SYNERGY PROTEIN BARS REVIEW
EVOX LEAN-PRO PROTEIN REVIEW
The EVOX Lean-Pro Protein is a high protein, very low-calorie diet shake that falls in the Toning and Slimming range of the Evox products. This diet shake supports weight loss and contains vital macronutrients that have been proven to accelerate weight loss.
Garcinia Cambogia (HCA) is one of the key ingredients in the Lean-Pro Protein which in this regard assists in the weight control process through various mechanisms for a multi-pronged effect. The Lean –Pro Protein formula includes 21g of High Biological Value Protein from various sources, as well as high fibre levels and an ultra-low 2g of carbohydrates per serving.
I have been using the Lean-Pro Protein for almost two weeks now and I usually take it in the evening as part of my dinner. The first thing that I noticed when I opened my protein jar was how small the scoop was compared to a normal protein scoop.
But since this is a weight loss shake, portion control is essential and the scoop, therefore, made sense when it finally clicked.
Apart from the fact that this diet shake is ultra-low on carbs, I love that it mixes well with water even when I just use a normal water bottle as opposed to a protein shaker.
As stated above, the flavour I received is the chocolate cream sundae, which is sort of a mild chocolate taste (it is not too sweet, nor is it too strong).
I feel like if you love chocolate flavours, you would love the chocolate cream sundae, and if you are not a big chocolate flavour fan, you would still love this, simply because of the mildness.
Cappuccino, Vanilla and Strawberry are the other available flavours in this range and the Lean-Pro Protein is sold in two sizes – 1.9kg and the 900g.
So, if you are on a weight loss journey and are looking for a protein powder that is very low on carbs and calories to supplement your diet, I say you must give Lean-Pro Protein a go.
EVOX PROTEIN SYNERGY BARS REVIEW
The Evox protein synergy bars are available in three flavours- choc hazelnut, chocolate and cookies and cream. Each bar weighs 62g and contains 20g of protein. I got to try out the cookies and cream as well as the chocolate flavours.
EVOX COOKIES AND CREAM SYNERGY BAR REVIEW
The cookies and cream synergy bars are covered in an ample layer of chocolate and just under that layer is where the real magic is to be found.
Once you bite through the bar, you will be greeted by a shirtless Channing Tatum (hey, this is the only way I could describe how amazing the first bite of the cookies and cream bar really is, okay?)
So, once Channing Tatum steps aside and you are back to your senses, you will notice a thick caramel coloured layer of the cookies and cream. What is deliciously incredible about the cookies and cream bar is that it has just the right amount crunchy pieces of cookies and just the right amount of sweetness.
Overall, the texture apart from the lovely crunchy bits, is quite smooth and soft, not at all chewy.
I eat the synergy bars in the morning just before my workouts but I do find it hard to finish a whole bar in one sitting because they are very filling, so I have half pre-workout and the other half post workout.
Side note: The bars taste even better after putting them in the fridge for a few hours. This is a free tip that you must really try. You are welcome.
EVOX CHOCOLATE SYNERGY BAR REVIEW
The nutritional composition of the chocolate flavour is the same as the cookies and cream and so is the texture somehow.
The chocolate synergy bar is wrapped in a thin layer of chocolate while the centre has the texture and taste of chocolate brownies.
The chocolate bar also has some white crunchy bits in the middle and I wondered if that may have been some pieces of milk chocolate (I may be wrong).
I have to say that I have noticed I similarities so far with all the Evox supplements that I have so far tasted- the brand ensures that their products are never bland nor too sweet.
This was the case too with the chocolate flavour.
So, yeah I didn’t see Channing Tatum dance before my eyes with this flavour but that is only because I am more of a caramel than chocolate, kind of girl, even when it comes to plain old candy – I am not big on chocolate.
Overall, I loved all the three products and will definitely spend my money on Evox products because they are very consistent when it comes down to quality and beautiful flavours.
Disclaimer: I received the products from Evox as part of my review but all views expressed are mine.
